home > micro and weekend laser peels

These peels use the erbium laser wavelength to improve damaged skin, eliminate age spots, and reduce fine wrinkles and superficial scarring. The desire to look one's best is widespread. The ageing process, genetics, over exposure to the sun, and other factors all take their toll and leave undesirable effects on our skin. Nowhere are these effects more visible than on the face. With the most advanced laser technology for superficial skin resurfacing, Southern Utah Laser Aesthetics can perform this procedure requiring little or no downtime.

How does it work?

Laser energy is highly absorbed by water in the superficial layer of the skin. This results in ablation or reduction of the superficial skin. Laser skin resurfacing is performed by carefully controlling the laser energy to eliminate the bleeding and potential scarring associated with conventional surgical methods. Our physicians will analyze your skin condition and help you select the most effective treatment for you.

What kind of conditions can be treated?

Many facial conditions such as fine wrinkling around the eyelids, forehead, nose, and mouth can be smoothed by laser skin resurfacing. Deep laugh and frown lines can be minimized. The lingering effects of acne, irregular surgical scars, and other surface abnormalities can also be successfully treated.

What results can be expected?

Your skin will be exfoliated layer by layer over your recommended treatment process, with treatments scheduled one month apart. This enables new skin growth, which is younger and fresher in appearance. Effects are cumulative. After the first treatment, you will see improvements in pigment and skin texture within a few days. Other improvements will be more subtle and may take one to three months. With each subsequent treatment, subtle changes will accumulate until you have achieved the improvement you desire.

Is the treatment painful?

Unlike previous laser peel techniques, there is minimal discomfort associated with our procedure. A topical anesthetic cream can be applied prior to the treatment. Most patients feel a “rubber band snapping” sensation and have little discomfort.

What should be expected after treatment?

Immediately after the procedure, your skin will pinken and swell slightly. The redness and swelling will usually dissipate within one to three days. Peeling may occur for one to three days after the treatment. Within 24 hours you can return to your normal skin routine. A moisturizing lotion is applied after the procedure along with sunscreen containing both UVA and UVB protectants. Makeup may be applied after 24 hours.

How long does the treatment take?

This treatment takes approximately 15-30 minutes. If prescribed, topical anesthetics should be applied 30-60 minutes prior to the treatment time.

What about skin care products?

Our physician-grade skin care products offer a great opportunity to enhance the effects of your treatments. Proper skin care will help reduce fine lines and help create a more youthful appearance.

Will the treatment alter my daily activities?

NO! All of our treatments are designed to avoid any burning or downtime. You can expect to return to your normal activities following your treatment.
