What should I do before my peel?
To get the most out of The Vitalize Peel® and for maximum comfort we recommend that you avoid the following treatments:
One week prior to your peel avoid:
- Electrolysis
- Waxing
- Depilatory creams
- Laser Hair Removal
- Any exfoliating products
- Any products that may cause dryness or irritation, including products containing Salicylic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acids including Glycolic Acids.
Two to three days prior to your peel avoid:
- Retin-A, Renova or any products containing Retinol.
What can I expect during my peel?
Your medical professional will cleanse any area where The Vitalize Peel® is to be applied with a prepping solution. This will be followed by the peeling solution which in some cases may be repeated. You may experience some mild tingling or warmth for 1-3 minutes. This discomfort can be easily relieved by the use of a hand fan. Your medical skin care professional may choose to apply Retonic Acid at this time. When this is done a yellow tinge will appear on the skin which will disappear within an hour of the procedure.
How long will this procedure take?
From start to finish the entire procedure should take approximately 20 minutes.
What can I expect after my peel?
Most patients leave the medical office healthy and fresh. Any redness or discoloration can easily be covered with makeup and most activities can resume right away. Within 48 hours you will notice a mild flaking which can be controlled with moisturizers.
When can I schedule my next peel?

What should I do after my peel?
You may be more sensitive to sun exposure. Take extra precautions by using an SPF 20 or higher. We recommend limiting sun exposure for at least one week after your peel. Avoid strenuous exercise for 2 to 3 days as the perspiration caused may irritate the skin. When washing your face do not scrub. Use a gentle cleanser. Avoid “helping” the skin to peel. You can control the peeling with a light moisturizer.
Do not have any other facial treatment for at least on week after your peel. You may resume the regular use of Retin-A, alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) products or bleaching creams ONLY after the peeling process is complete.
